Mild Steel Blackener 20 litre

Surface Monkey Mild Steel Blackener (previously known as Caswell Europe Black Oxide) easily blackens steel, cast iron and hardened tool steel at just above room temperature. Once blackened and sealed, the finished metal items remain corrosion-free.

It’s environmentally friendly, safe to use and can be diluted as desired with water.

Ensure all metal parts are clean and free of grease, oil and paint and that the ambient temperature is between 27 and 30 degrees Celsius.

Immerse parts in the concentrate or diluted solution and swirl around for between 30 seconds and 5 minutes. Alternatively, parts may simply be soaked in the solution for 5 to 10 minutes.

Remove parts from the solution and rinse in fresh water.

Immediately apply Surface Monkey Black Beeswax  or dip in Surface Monkey Metal Sealer and allow to soak for 5-10 minutes. Shake off any excess and allow to dry thoroughly before handling.
